During that time, it was only natural for me to turn to Channel 10 for my news every day and night, because it is the NBC affiliate, and that is what I have always watched. I have moved here [Knoxville, TN] from Austin Texas and have "adopted" WBIR as our local station. We really enjoy Ted and Robin - please tell them that us newcomers really like their style and approach to reporting and broadcasting the news. I have one question. First, I'd like to say what an enjoyable experience it has been discovering 615 Music and the monopoly on quality news music 615 seems to have. I was first introduced to 615's "Impact" on WVTM-TV in Birmingham, Alabama. I knew I loved the package and was thrilled to learn about all of 615's news packages. In fact, our local NBC affiliate, WPMI-TV, in Mobile, Ala. implimented "The Tower" a few weeks ago. It's a pleasure watching the news to the sounds of 615. I am taking a quick break from animating the CLTV Afternoon Open because I wanted to say once again how absolutely incredible Carrie's music package is. I wish that the animation could live up to the music's stature, but I doubt it. You and your team must be incredibly proud of your efforts. It's hands down, the best I've ever heard. I'm a big believer that hard work pays off and yours certainly did.

Dear 615 Music,
First I'd like to compliment 615 Music on its ability to create memorable, quality music packages. I take most interest in the TV News Music packages 615 has produced. After hearing packages such as "NewsOne," "Impact," and "WB News 99," they are implanted in my mind and I can't stop humming them. As a broadcast journalism student at Pascagoula High School in Pascagoula, Mississippi I am not, and to not anticipate being in a position to be a customer of 615 Music's. However, I do enjoy the nuances of television news. When I see a station that look's good, I say "I want to work there." Not the least component of a good look is good music. I've come to appreciate news music over the years and have enjoyed learning more about 615 Music in recent weeks. I frequently visit 615music.com listening to sample montages such as "The Tower" and "Impact Alternate Logo Version." Again, I am in no position to purchase 615's products or, for that matter, use them for any personal gain---only personal enjoyment. I was wandering if it would be possible to be placed on a mailing list in order to recieve new samples from 615 and/or publications concerning 615 products. As I am not a potential buyer I would be more than happy to "subscribe" to these services.

This is absolutely the best station music package I have ever heard. The main close brings tears to my eyes. The sports bumper is just as funky as it wants to be. And if the election theme doesn't increase voter turnout in Southern California, nothing will.

Sorry I haven't been in touch until now. We've jumped from one big project to another here and it's been crazy!
I wanted to let you know how happy we are with the music package. It's a winner! We did focus groups in October and several viewers mentioned (unprompted) how much they like the theme.
Anyway, a belated "thanks" for your work on the project...please pass that on to the others. I hope we can add some cuts in 2001!

Thanks for the response, and for not thinking that it is strange that anyone would go out of his way to procure a collection of television themes. I do hope that someday that 615 will, with the blessings of your clients, release a CD featuring such themes as the one I've cited above, for public purchase, just because the music is remarkable, and I know there is a broad interest in this music; I talk to a lot of other collectors in California and elsewhere and it's heartening to know many out there love music without the need to qualify their interest and love of such music.
Well, thanks so much! If you ever release the "Tower" theme used by KNBC Nightly News please let me know, I mean for public purchase. Some of these themes should be put together into a "package" for the public, but I cannot say that my casual selfish interest in it, even if I should on occasion play the themes on my show (most of the time I would just listen to this music at home) warants my taking your time away from more serious interests. I do appreciate you taking my interest seriously and responding.

Here's a good news update for you:
1. EVERYONE at our station who has heard the music so far is flipping out. They love it. No one has ever had a middle of the road, "oh, it sounds good" reaction, it's always over the top. The day the masters arrived, I put a big bow on top of one of the CD's, walked into Denise's office and said, "here's your new music package!" She is so pleased with the work we've done. Meanwhile, our promo producers have transferred all the mastered tracks into our digital edit suite and are ready to rock and roll as soon as Linda's animations start arriving, which should be in the next couple of weeks. Speaking of Linda and Larry, they have one of the mastered CD's and think you've done an amazing job.
2. I met a week ago this past Monday and played the morning, afternoon, prime-time, sympathetic and breaking news themes; he says they're killer! He was jamming the second he heard the morning theme coming up. He said he thinks you've done a GREAT job. You'll also be happy to know that one of the first things I mentioned was how you had told me about the great experience you had working w/Rick and about the Bulls tune you co-wrote together. That made him smile from ear to ear. He mentioned what a good experience it was to have worked with you.
Anyways, I wanted you to know that working with you and with Kyle and then with Tom, David Cleveland, Ron Saltmarsh and the rest of your team at 615 has been one of the best experiences I've ever had. I'm still processing everything that's happened and the unbelievable quality of work that's been produced for this project. It hits me in waves, what's just happened! The next step will be for me to produce a redesign image reel which will showcase your music together with Linda's animation and graphics. Then I'll make a formal presentation to our staff and send the reel around to some of my peers w/in the TBC station group. Of course, there will be a meeting with Mr. Ellis in the very near future, and I'll make sure to give you his feedback, which I'm sure will be great. I'm also planning to send you airchecks of the new news opens as soon as we get everything edited. We're shooting for a 9/26 launch, so it won't be long!
Sorry this note is so long, but there's never a short way to say all the things I have to tell you about!
